Knowable Me takes privacy and data security really seriously; it’s one of our core values.

As a member of the Australian Data & Insights Association, we are bound by the Privacy (Market and Social Research) Code, the Privacy Act 1988, and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). The Code, the Privacy Act and the APPs impose strict rules on Knowable Me for how we collect, use and share personal information, as well as rules about what to do in case of a data breach.

Personally Identifiable Information is any piece of information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person or to identify an individual in context. If you choose to provide us with personally identifiable information, it will only be used to support your Knowable Me account to access surveys and paid work opportunities.

What information we collect:

Generally, we collect data, insights, personal preferences and experiences, demographics and lifestyle information.

We collect your contact information, including your first name, email address, and mobile phone number, to support managing your account and to contact you about opportunities to participate. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in an email from us, or by updating your communication preferences in your account.

We collect information about disability and accessibility needs for you or the people you support. This is voluntary information, and you are not required to provide it. This information is collected as part of our core business activity that specifically provides insights into the needs and preferences of people with disability and their support networks.

Disability-specific information, in some circumstances, could be considered personally identifiable, and as such, we will never share details about a specific disability.

Exceptions to this are:

  • where you have given express consent to Knowable Me to do so;
  • where there is a reasonable belief that disclosure is necessary to prevent a threat to life or health; or,
  • the use is authorised by law or reasonably necessary to enforce the law;

How we collect information:

Knowable Me collects your personal information directly from you through your account and the activities you complete on our website. We may also collect information in other accessible formats through email, phone, or in person.

How information is stored:

All personal information collected is stored on our secure website, managed by Knowable Me on the http://Bubble.io]Bubble.io platform. Bubble is built on Amazon Web Services (AWS), compliant with certifications such as SOC 2, CSA, ISO 27001. All data is hosted on AWS West Region (Oregon, United States of America) which also maintains a state-of-the-art security infrastructure.

How information is used:

Knowable Me will use your information for the following:

  • To determine your eligibility for research
  • To invite you to complete and apply for activities such as online surveys, user experience testing, product testing, and mystery shopping
  • To communicate with you about your account, activities and rewards

Knowable Me will not sell or release your personally identifiable information to others without your explicit consent, unless required by law.

If, in the course of doing business, there is a compelling reason to share personal information, we will ask for your explicit consent, and do so on each occasion. You may withdraw your consent at any time.

Your individual privacy is maintained even when insights are shared. In publishing or sharing our research, personal data is anonymised or aggregated for research purposes. We may quote directly from our research and carefully ensure that there is no way to identify any individual directly or indirectly from the quotes.

Cookies, but not the delicious ones:

Knowable Me uses cookies for authentication purposes. They allow us to know that you are authorised to use your account and help us prevent fraud by users who aren’t friendly.

How information is accessed:

You can access your information in your online account and have the opportunity to update or correct your information at any time. You may also contact us via email or phone. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or enabling you to make corrections.

Information about children:

You must be 18 years old to have a Knowable Me account. The safety of children is very important to us. We understand that some of our members may represent the needs of children in their care. We make every reasonable effort to ensure that children’s privacy and other rights are not compromised through the gathering and use of information shared with us

How to give feedback or make a complaint:

How we will let you know if this policy changes:

We review this policy annually and if anything changes in the rules that apply or how we do business, and will contact you if anything changes.
