Welcome to Knowable Me. Our mission is to achieve greater equity, empowerment, and choice for people with disability in the consumer market from the combined forces of data and lived experience. These Terms & Conditions (T&Cs) govern the use of our website, participation in our market research activities, and how we pay incentives and rewards for market research.

2. Eligibility and Participation

Who Can Participate:
Knowable Me is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment that amplifies the voices of individuals within the disability community and their support networks. Our market research activities are primarily designed for:

  • Adults (18+): Participation is open exclusively to individuals at least 18 years of age. This ensures that all participants can legally consent to collecting and using their data under our policies.
  • Residents of Australia: Participants must be current residents of Australia. This focus allows us to tailor our research and insights to the Australian context's specific needs, challenges, and opportunities.
  • People with Disabilities and Their Support Networks: While our research endeavours primarily target people with disabilities, we also value the insights from their support networks. This includes family members, caregivers, and professionals who contribute to the well-being and empowerment of individuals with disabilities.

Accuracy of Information:
To ensure the integrity of our research and the effectiveness of our advocacy, it is crucial that participants provide accurate and truthful information about themselves. This includes, but is not limited to, their age, residency status, and any information pertinent to their disability and support role. By participating in our market research activities, you affirm that the information you provide is complete, accurate, and current to the best of your knowledge.

Knowable Me reserves the right to verify the eligibility of any participant and may require additional documentation to confirm age, residency, or other relevant criteria. Participants who provided false or misleading information may be disqualified from current and future activities and may have any incentives or rewards revoked.

We believe that by adhering to these eligibility criteria, we can ensure that our research is both meaningful and impactful, contributing to a more inclusive and accessible society.

3. Market Research Activities

At Knowable Me, we are dedicated to uncovering insights that drive positive change and foster inclusivity, especially within disability and accessibility. To achieve this, we offer a variety of market research activities designed to gather valuable data and feedback from our community. Participants can engage in the following activities:

  1. Online Surveys: These are questionnaires that participants can complete through their Knowable Me account at their convenience. Surveys may cover various topics relevant to disability, accessibility, product usability, and more. Expected completion time can vary from a few minutes to longer, depending on the depth of the survey. Rewards for online surveys also vary from entries into our monthly gift card draw to specific gift card values.
  2. Phone Surveys: These are the exact same questionnaires as the online surveys, but we’ll arrange a time to call you and do the survey over the phone. This option is for anyone who isn’t comfortable with the online world, or where a phone survey will be more accessible for their needs.
  3. User Experience Testing: Participants are invited to use digital products or services and provide feedback on their user experience. This could include website navigation, app functionality, or digital accessibility. Sessions may be recorded for analysis, with prior consent from participants. Feedback on ease of use, accessibility features, and overall satisfaction is highly valued.
  4. Product Testing: We occasionally receive products and conduct in-person testing. Participants may unpack, set up, use, and experience these products and provide detailed feedback on effectiveness, design, and accessibility – and whether they would purchase it. Product types can vary widely, from assistive devices to everyday household items. Rewards for product testing are in line with the time commitment and travelling to and from testing locations.
  5. Virtual and In-Person Mystery Shopping: Participants act as mystery shoppers to evaluate the customer service of businesses and organisations, both online and in physical locations. This activity assesses how well companies serve, interact, and provide services to shoppers with disabilities. Participants will be provided with specific criteria to evaluate and will report on their experiences. Rewards for mystery shopping are paid above traditional mystery shopping jobs and are in line with the time commitment and when travel is required to visit shop locations.

Market Research Participation Guidelines and Expectations

How to Participate:
Interested individuals who meet our eligibility criteria can sign up for activities through their Knowable Me account. Opportunities are matched to participants based on their profile information and availability.

Expectations:

  • Timeliness: Complete activities within the specified time frame. If you cannot do so, please notify us immediately.
  • Quality of Responses: Provide thoughtful, honest, and detailed feedback. The value of our research is directly related to the quality of the information we gather from participants.
  • Confidentiality: Some activities may involve testing unreleased products or sensitive information. Participants are expected to maintain confidentiality and not share information about the activity with third parties without explicit permission from Knowable Me.
  • Respect and Integrity: While engaging in mystery shopping or any other activity, participants are expected to conduct themselves with professionalism, respect, and integrity towards all individuals they interact with.

By participating in these market research activities, you are contributing to valuable insights that help shape a more inclusive and accessible world. We appreciate your commitment to providing honest and detailed feedback, which is crucial for the success of our research initiatives.

4. Incentives and Rewards

Paying incentives and rewards align with the anticipated average time commitment and any additional expectations for completing activities. e.g. travel, online forums, interviews, etc.
The lowest reward tier for short online surveys is an entry/entries into our Monthly Gift Card Draw (insert T&Cs link).

All other activities attract a specific incentive payment, generally paid by gift card. Arrangements for physical gift cards can be made if the electronic system is deemed inaccessible for a specific participant.

Disclaimer:
Participants who provide false or misleading information may be disqualified from current and future activities and may have any incentives or rewards revoked.

5. Fraud and Duplication Prevention

At Knowable Me, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity in all our market research activities. To ensure the fairness and authenticity of our processes, we have implemented several measures designed to prevent fraud and duplication of rewards. These measures help us safeguard the quality of our data and ensure that our incentives system is equitable and effective.

  1. Verified Email Addresses: All users must have a verified email address to participate in our market research activities. This requirement helps us ensure that each account corresponds to a real, unique individual, thereby reducing the risk of fraudulent activity.
  2. Human Analysis: Our team regularly reviews and analyses participation patterns and survey responses. This human oversight allows us to identify and investigate any irregularities or inconsistencies that could indicate fraudulent behaviour or duplicate accounts.
  3. Limitation on Incentives: To accommodate the unique perspectives within our community, a limit has been set where individuals may receive incentives for completing a survey type up to two times. This accounts for situations where an individual may qualify under different categories, such as being a person with a disability and also a carer for someone with a disability. This approach ensures that our data reflects a wide range of experiences while preventing the exploitation of our rewards system.
  4. Fraud Detection: Our website uses technology solutions that can automatically detect unusual activity. How it does that is kind of a secret, so that naughty people don’t try to exploit it.

We emphasise the importance of integrity and honesty in participating in our research activities. Fraudulent behaviour not only undermines our platform's trust but also devalues our genuine participants’ contributions.

Consequences of Violating Terms:

  • Revocation of accumulated rewards.
  • Suspension or termination of the user account.

6. User Responsibilities and Conduct

At Knowable Me, we value the contributions of each participant in our market research activities. To ensure that our platform remains a trusted and valuable resource for both participants and research clients, we outline the following expectations for user behaviour and participation:

  1. Honesty and Accuracy: We expect all participants to provide truthful and accurate information about their participation. This includes responses to survey questions, feedback during product testing, and any other input requested by Knowable Me. The integrity of our research depends on the authenticity of the data we collect.
  2. Respectful Engagement: Participants are expected to engage respectfully with our platform, team, and other participants. This includes adhering to all guidelines for each market research activity and avoiding any behaviour that could be considered disruptive or offensive.
  3. Prohibition of Fraudulent Behaviour: Attempting to defraud the system or exploit loopholes in the reward mechanism is strictly prohibited.
  4. Adherence to Participation Limits: Participants must respect the participation limits set for each research activity, including the limit on incentives for any survey type to two instances.

Consequences of Non-Compliance:

  • Withholding or reclaiming of rewards.
  • Suspension or termination of account access.
  • Legal action, where applicable, to recover damages or enforce compliance.

7. Limitation of Liability

Knowable Me is dedicated to providing a platform that facilitates meaningful market research activities, aiming to gather insights that contribute to a more inclusive and accessible world. While we strive to ensure a fair, efficient, and transparent process in the allocation and receipt of rewards for participation, it is important for all participants to understand the extent of our liability in these processes.

  1. Allocation of Rewards: Knowable Me will make all reasonable efforts to allocate rewards to participants who have successfully completed market research activities in accordance with the terms and conditions specified for each activity. However, Knowable Me is not liable for any errors or omissions in the allocation of rewards that may occur due to technical glitches, human error, or other unforeseen circumstances.
  2. Receipt of Rewards: We commit to processing rewards promptly upon the successful completion of market research activities. Nevertheless, Knowable Me cannot be held liable for delays or failures in the receipt of rewards that are beyond our control, such as issues with third-party payment processors, banking institutions, or postal services.
  3. Changes to Rewards: Knowable Me reserves the right to modify the type or value of rewards offered for market research activities without prior notice. Any changes will be reflected in the terms and conditions of the respective activity going forward, and will not retroactively affect rewards for activities already completed.
  4. Participation Risks: Participants acknowledge that engaging in market research activities may involve certain risks, including but not limited to the disclosure of sensitive information (within the bounds of our privacy policy) and the potential for technical issues during participation. Knowable Me is not liable for any direct or indirect damages or losses that may result from such risks, provided we have taken reasonable measures to protect participant data and ensure the integrity of our platform.
  5. Limitation on Claims: Any claim against Knowable Me related to participation in market research activities or the allocation and receipt of rewards must be brought within a period specified by applicable law from the time the cause of action arises. Knowable Me's liability, where not otherwise excluded and to the extent permitted by law, shall be limited to the value of the reward directly related to the claim.

By participating in market research activities with Knowable Me, participants agree to these terms, acknowledging the limitations of liability as outlined. This understanding is crucial to fostering a relationship based on trust and mutual respect between Knowable Me and our valued participants.

8. Dispute Resolution

At Knowable Me, we prioritise the satisfaction and trust of our users. We understand that, despite our best efforts, disputes or disagreements may occasionally arise. To address such instances transparently and fairly, we have established a structured process for dispute resolution. This process aims to resolve any conflicts efficiently and amicably, ensuring that all parties are heard and treated fairly.

Step 1: Initial Contact and Informal Resolution

  • Contact Us: If you have any concerns or disputes related to your participation in market research activities, the allocation of rewards, or any other aspect of our service, we encourage you to first contact us directly. Please email our support team at research@knowable.me with a detailed description of your issue.
  • Resolution Attempt: Upon receiving your query, our team will review your case thoroughly and attempt to resolve the issue informally. We aim to respond to all inquiries within 48 hours and to resolve issues promptly, with a focus on fairness and understanding.

Step 2: Formal Dispute Resolution

  • Escalation: If the initial attempt at resolution does not address your concerns satisfactorily, you may request that your case be escalated to a senior member of our team for further review. This step involves a more detailed investigation into the dispute, and we may contact you for additional information or clarification.
  • Outcome: We will provide a formal response outlining our findings and the actions we propose to take to resolve the dispute. This response will be sent to you within 10 working days of the escalation.

9. Amendments to the Terms and Conditions

We review this policy annually and if anything changes in the rules that apply or how we do business, and will contact you by email if anything changes.

Continued use of Knowable Me after notification of any changes signifies your agreement to the updated terms and your commitment to upholding the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

10. Governing Law

Knowable Me is governed by the Laws of Australia and each state and territory in which we operate.

In addition, as a member of the Australian Data & Insights Association, we are bound by the Privacy (Market and Social Research) Code, the Privacy Act 1988, and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). The Code, the Privacy Act and the APPs impose strict rules on Knowable Me for how we collect, use and share personal information, as well as rules about what to do in case of a data breach.
